Best Scientific Project 2001: MariLim, Kiel Ford, Baltic Sea MariLim was the first to demonstrate that pH adjusted Reef Ball concrete mixes create a better diversity of life on the reef than regular concrete EVEN in NON-HARD CORAL waters. [It has been known for a long time that there was a significant difference in the fouling communities in tropical waters but it was a scientific controversy as to the effect on northern, more hardy species].
