Thank you for
your interest in the Aqaba Lagoon Tourism Site (ALTS) > Project.
Enclose
hereunder a brief description for our upcoming Project;
A. Project’s Location :
At Aqaba’s western boundary with
Israel, with a 250m opening
on the Gulf of Aqaba, and stretching north towards the Aqaba Airport and adjacent to the
Border Crossing point with Israel. Aqaba’s location is unique being a focal point between four
countries (Jordan, Israel,
Egypt & Saudi Arabia) at the tip of the Gulf.
B. Project’s Area of Land :
4,320,000 sqm
/ 432 hectares.
C. Project Objectives :
To create a World Class Destination
for Tourism, Recreational
and Residential Communities in Aqaba, around the Lagoon > which will increase Aqaba’s shorelines by almost
(3 km) / Three Kilometers.
The Developments will include a
variety of Up-Market hotels,
residential communities, retail, conference, entertainment and recreational facilities.
D. Minimum Development & Minimum Time
Schedule Requirements :
Phase 1 /
(Years 1-4)
- Lagoon / 40-45 hectares (minimum surface
area).
- 5
Star Hotel / 300 Rooms.
- Commercial Facilities / 10,000 sqm.
Phase 2 /
(Years 5-8)
- Residential
Units / 400 Units.
- 4&5 Star Hotels / 600 Rooms.
- Commercial Facilities / 10,000 sqm.
Phase 3 /
(Years 9-12)
- Residential Units / 400 Units.
- 4&5 Star Hotels / 600 Rooms.
- Golf Course / 18 Holes.
Once completed,
the ALTS is expected to create a new up market tourism and leisure destination in the region. The project will increase Aqaba’s
shoreline and create a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment opportunities, all within a unique and inspiring setting.
We are still
at the very early feasibility stages of the project, whereby an International Design Competition for the
Master Plan and the Lagoon
Feasibility is being conducted. The Design Competition is scheduled to be completed by October 2003. After which, and according to its
results, we will either decline
proceeding with the project or launch the Lagoon Design > Development and the Schematic Design stages.
